Hyderabad : State government adviser K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, a confidant of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, is planning to sue TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu for accusing him of land grabbing. Mr. Rao would serve a legal notice on Mr. Naidu on Wednesday.

During a visit to Nadargul on the outskirts on Monday, Naidu had charged Reddy and Rao with grabbing government land. Sources said Rao had warned that he would take action against Naidu for the “malicious campaign”.

Ramachandra Rao had earlier served notice on TD leader Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, forcing the latter to retract his remark that the adviser was “acting like AP’s Jayalalitha and amassing wealth.”

KVP Ramachandra Rao

KVP Ramachandra Rao

When a politician throws a party, all the city roads lead to that place and the city will be completely blocked with traffic jams. Especially when a person like KVP is the host. For the starters KVP Ramachandra Rao is also known as the Chief Minister’s right hand. It’s like if you want to get any work done by the Chief Minister, contact KVP. Such is the closeness between the two.

Saturday evening demonstrated to the city who is the real mover and shaker of Hyderabad. Traffic was completely thrown out of gear on the Begumpet road as VVIPs and VIPs of the city descended in droves to attend the dinner party of the son of K V P Ramachandra Rao who on paper is merely a Rajya Sabha MP.

The party was hosted by industrialist K Raghurama Krishnam Raju whose daughter KVP’s son Ujjawal will marry, but anybody who is anybody in the power matrix was in attendance. This included not only the chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who is a close friend of KVP but also opposition leaders like Chiranjeevi, CPM’s B V Raghavalu and CPI’s K Narayana.

According to a senior bureaucrat, “KVP is the most powerful guy in the state after the chief minister. In fact, as advisor to the chief minister, YSR often asks many to come to him through KVP. So for VVIPs and VIPs it was mandatory to mark attendance at the party that they had been invited to. It was like KVP’s wish was their command”.

On Sunday evening, KVP threw another party to mark the happy occasion, but this was only for the proliferating media of Hyderabad and was held in another hotel across the road. The engagement ceremony a low profile event had happened on Friday evening at another five star hotel.

Well guys, political power or money power?

TTD executive officer K Venkataramana Chary has kicked off a row by deputing a team of temple priests to Hyderabad on February 12 to officiate the marriage of the son of KVP Ramachandra Rao, the all powerful associate of chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. The delegation of priests was headed by the chief priest of the temple A V Ramana Dikshitulu.

“Since TTD priests are paid from the hundi of the temple, they are not supposed to officiate private functions,” a source in TTD told TOI. The TTD administration is already facing criticism for allegedly violating temple conventions. There are also charges of political appointments at TTD by the government. It may be mentioned here that in December, a Sudershan Yagam and Mrutyunjaya Yagam were performed in Tirumala for the benefit of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of the chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, under the auspices of TTD chief priest Ramana Dikshitulu, which had raised eyebrows.

“Now the EO of TTD took a team of priests from the Balaji temple and flew them to Hyderabad to attend the marriage though it is not part of protocol of the state government,” an upset TTD official said. He added: “Though the EO has chosen a novel way to curry favour with his political bosses, little does he know that withdrawing the priests from the Seva of Lord Venkateswara goes against the convention of the temple.”

‘The presence of the head priest at the sanctum sanctorum of Tirumala is necessary for every important ritual related to the Lord’s Seva. Withdrawing him from temple service tantamount to doing away with the service at the temple”, remarked an Endowment official. The TTD team was present on the dais at the marriage function in their formal temple wear. Attempts to reach the EO to get his version of the incident did not meet with success.
